Jacob Mertens, MS, RD, CSCS
Jacob Mertens is a seasoned professional in the wellness and fitness realm, with over a decade of experience dedicated to optimizing the physical performance and overall well-being of athletes and clients. His focal point has predominantly been with the Houston Texans, where he played a pivotal role for six seasons, fine-tuning the performance of NFL athletes. Prior to his tenure with the Texans, Jacob made significant contributions to prestigious institutions such as IMG Academy, Nebraska basketball, and the Iowa Cubs, the Chicago Cubs' Triple-A affiliate. His impact also extended to collegiate programs at Texas Tech, Akron, Iowa State, Washington, and the Idaho football teams.
Jacob holds a Bachelor's degree in Sports Management and Exercise Science from Peru State (NE) and a Master's degree in Sports Science and Coaching from the University of Akron. He furthered his knowledge through a Didactic Program at the University of Nebraska and a Dietetic Internship at the University of Houston, which included rotations with the Oregon and Alabama football teams. Jacob's holistic approach to wellness and fitness continues to shape the athletic world, setting new standards for excellence.
While at Peru State, he excelled on the football field, being named a two-time academic all-American, two-time all-conference linebacker, team captain, and male athlete of the year.
